Competition Policy

“Competition policy” promotes economic efficiency in markets by encouraging competition and preventing monopolies.  It is called “antitrust policy” in the United States and “anti-monopoly policy” in China.  This course will (1) review theories of perfect competition, imperfect competition, and monopoly, (2) study the broad principles of U.S. competition policy, (3) examine recent court cases which illustrate U.S. policy, and (4) briefly compare U.S. policy with policies in China and the European Union.
