社区文化规划与城市文化政策
Community Cultural Planning and Urban Cultural Policy

This course is about communities - communities defined by geography or place – and the role and value of arts, culture, and planning in those communities. Specifically, the course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of community cultural planning and its role in the larger undertaking of urban planning. It also addresses civic engagement practices fostered and facilitated by artists and cultural leaders. Professionals involved in cultural work – and organizations they may lead – are increasingly asked to think and act more expansively as pivotal and vital change agents in their cities. The language and tools of the planning profession and general issues facing communities are relevant – and sometimes central – to the role of cultural organizations, to programming, and to the leadership they can offer.
