This course is concerned with the peaceful settlement of international disputes including inter-State disputes, investor-state and commercial disputes. The first part of the course examines the range of methods for resolving inter-state disputes and the institutions concerned with dispute settlement including the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, and the World Trade Organisation. The second part of the course is dedicated to the study of international commercial arbitration. The third part of the course examines the nature and scope of investor-state disputes pursuant to Bilateral Investment Treaties and multi-lateral agreements.
